Dave DeCarlo has had more than 35 years of experience in the death care industry. Mr. DeCarlo acquired his experience as an executive of Matthews International, a leading worldwide supplier of death care products consisting primarily of bronze and granite memorials, caskets, mausoleum construction, and cremation equipment for the cemetery and funeral industries.
Over the years, Mr. DeCarlo held a number of executive roles at Matthews, including President of the Bronze Division (which included a cemetery funeral home operation), Group President of the Memorialization Group, and Vice Chairman of the Corporation from which he retired in 2008. He also served on the Matthews International Board for 22 years and retired as a board member in 2009.
In 2011, Mr. DeCarlo joined Carriage Services Inc. Board of Directors as their Lead Director. Carriage is a NYSE listed company that currently owns over 217 funeral homes and cemeteries in 29 states. Later, Mr. DeCarlo was promoted to President of Carriage and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors. Upon his retirement from Carriage, he founded and is CEO of his own company, DeCarlo Solutions Inc.
Before joining the death care industry, Mr. DeCarlo held successful, diverse management and executive roles in finance, manufacturing, operations, sales, marketing, distribution, and management information systems at several Fortune 500 companies including Reynolds Aluminum, Westinghouse Electric, and Joy Global. Mr. DeCarlo received an MBA in Finance, a Masters of Arts in Economics and Statistics, and a Ph.D. in Applied Economics and Finance (all but dissertation) from the Wharton School of Finance and University of Pennsylvania, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from West Virginia University.
